What are you focused on?

What are you spending your time focusing on? Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT) tells us, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” The only way to get freedom from depression, or anyfile-oct-02-6-37-58-pm other bondage that is controlling your mind and life, is to focus on Jesus.

Seek out the truth in God’s living word. When you focus on what’s going on around you, it can seem overwhelming or impossible. That’s exactly what the enemy wants you to think about.  Philippians 4:8 (NLT) says “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing, fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

When we take our eyes off Jesus, we start looking at all the ugly that the world has to offer. At first, you might think it’s great or fun, but it soon proves to be devastating. That’s why God’s word tells us to choose life instead of death. The wages of sin is death. It’s really that simple.
