Praise Be To God

I recently started researching for a new book. So many different things have jumped out at me that I have been struggling with. Sometimes we don’t realize that we let negative stuff enter our minds and hearts until it gets us down. I literally took a break from blogging and writing because I let life and doubt get in the way. The enemy will try to keep us too busy to do what God called us to do. Then it’s easy to start thinking that nobody even notices anyway. Well, God notices. Isn’t that more important?

Even as Christ-followers, we all love to be praised for our deeds. When we do something good and it goes unnoticed, we feel unappreciated. Sometimes, we focus too much on the praise of others on our jobs or when we volunteer our time and energy trying to make positive changes. The question we need to ask ourself is, ‘Am I doing what I’m doing for the praise of others or am I doing it because it’s the right thing to do?‘ If we’re doing it for praise, then our motives are wrong. John 12:43 NLT says, ” For they loved human praise more than the praise of God”.

Our motivation for doing good should be for God, and God alone. We should desire the praise of our Heavenly Father, not of other people. Matthew 25:23 NLT tells us, ” “The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant…”. This should be what every Christ-follower should be focused on. Sometimes we do things and never get approval from others, but we must keep doing it. God alone deserves praise. Our motives should be only to glorify our God and represent Jesus to others on this earth. Jesus is the only One who is good and sinless, and He is the only One that deserves to be praised. Isaiah 64:6 NLT says it like this, ” We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind”. We are not righteous. Only Jesus is righteous.

The phrase, Praise Be To God, is an expression used to express happiness or relief that something did or did not happen. Anything good is from God, plain and simple. Romans12:2 NLT says, ” Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”. We need to let God change the way we think. We can keep dwelling on what others think about us or we can let God change us. All that matters is what God thinks about us.

I will admit that sometimes I think that I’m wasting my time and am not making a difference in anybody’s life with my blogs and books. I doubt myself almost every day and feel like giving up. But, I know that God wants me to tell the good news of Jesus. This is how I can do it. I am not called to save the world, just to tell them about Jesus and His neverending love for us. The praise of others is not my motivation for giving my testimony. My motivation is the fact that Jesus can and will set you free from depression, anxiety, fear, hopelessness, doubt, and confusion, etc. He is the only way. You can’t do it on your own. I tried for years to get myself out of depression, but it never worked until I cried out to God. Matthew 7:7 NIV says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”.
