Freedom is a state of mind
Hi! My name is Jeanette Cole. I am the author of Depression: State of Mind. I have struggled my entire life with this affliction. God instructed me to write this book while I was seeking my deliverance. Depression is defined in Webster’s dictionary as a state of feeling sad; a psychoneurotic or psychotic disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration; a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping; feeling of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies. Just to clarify, this is not just “feelings” that you have for a while and they leave. Depression is not being moody. It affects your life, your family, and your health.
I believe that when you are struggling in an area, you need to research it as much as you can. Know everything you can possibly know about what you are dealing with. Read scriptures and books about it, listen to sermons about it, and pray about it. Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door with be opened to you.” This means that we need to ask, seek and knock. It does not mean to give up or give in. This is a battle for your life. It is also the battle of your life. Be a warrior! Fight the good fight of faith! Stand! Don’t lay down and let the enemy steal your life! I decided to fight and take my mind back. It is a choice. Everything in life is a choice. You choose to live or to die. Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” I will not let the devil steal another day from me.
I have a Higher Vision blog that I try to post in each week with some motivational and uplifting messages that God has given me for such a time as this. I believe that God will make a way where there seems to be no way and He will deliver us when we ask Him to.
I am married to a wonderful man and have two amazing children. I am blessed beyond measure. Since I have spent time researching the Bible and learning how to control my mind and my tongue, I am able to see all of my blessings. In the past, I would focus on the problems going on around me, instead of the problem solver, Jesus. Now, I speak good things into my life and I think good thoughts about my life. Things really do start changing when we change our actions. We rarely label ourselves as ‘depressed’. We can usually see it in others before we can see it in ourselves. The more we give into that mindset and attitude, the stronger the hold will become over us. I have come to believe that fear is the onset of most peoples depression. I gave into fear as a young child and it produced only negative consequences. Over the years, it became harder and harder for me to face my fears and I ‘sank’ deeper and deeper into a depressed and hopeless state. I decided to fight for my mind. I’m at war with the devil. Will you be a warrior with me and join the army of God? Let’s be the church! Fight alongside of me and let’s whip the devil’s butt!
We are overcomers through the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony (Rev 12:11). I have written my testimony of overcoming depression by focusing on what I think, do, and speak. It has been a long journey. I can finally say that I have the freedom!
While writing my book titled “Depression: State of Mind“, I had many ups and downs. It was a process. There were days that I did not want to even think about writing anything. There were many weeks that I didn’t have the strength or energy to focus on lifting myself up and adding to my book. In the Bible it says that David stirred himself up in the Lord. I think about that often. It’s really hard to do, especially at first. It’s worth it in the long run though.
The way you react to your circumstances will be a large part of your victory. Choose to have a ‘never give up, never surrender’ attitude in your life. Success should not be an option. This is the only life that you get, so be determined to make it count for something. God has a plan for your life so make sure you live up to your potential. Don’t waste it.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU…
You are what you believe.
You are what you think.
You are what you see.
You are what you speak.
You are what you hope.
You are what you do.
In my research, I have found that you are what you dwell on and focus on. If you keep thinking about your problems and your failures, then all you will have is problems and failures. That’s why the Bible tells us to think on things above instead of on ourselves. ~Colossians 3:1 (NIV) [Rules for Holy Living], “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.”~
Think of your blessings instead of your problems and you will be happier. It’s a battle. You are battling for your mind. You are battling for your peace. You are battling for your joy. You are battling for your life. Don’t let the devil steal your life from you. Take it back- by force! ~Matthew 11:12 (KJV), “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence , and the violent take it by force.”~
